Vivid Brush is one painter. Robin Jenner walks through the whole house, writes up each room and outside surface he will paint, then does the work himself. For house painters in Nanango, that means one person to deal with from the first call to the walk-through at the end. Many enquiries here are a whole-house repaint of an older timber home, a rental repaint between tenants, or pre-sale painting before a listing goes up. Units and flats are quoted too, inside body corporate rules. Kingaroy jobs come first and Nanango is considered job by job, so put the town in your enquiry and Robin will confirm whether he can quote.

Nanango had 1,514 occupied private dwellings at the 2021 Census, and 87.9% of them were separate houses. The heritage-listed court house on Henry Street, the old butter factory on George Street and Ringsfield House on Albert Street show how far back the town’s buildings go. House painting in Nanango often means an older home that needs a whole-house repaint inside and out.

About a third of occupied Nanango homes were rented in 2021. So a rental repaint between tenants, and pre-sale painting for owners about to list, make up a big share of what house painters in Nanango get asked to price. The repaints on the Projects page show the kind of whole-house work Robin has done.

In 2021, 32.0% of Nanango’s occupied private dwellings were rented, according to ABS QuickStats SAL32100.

Why Nanango owners hand the whole house to Robin

Hiring house painters in Nanango for a full repaint means letting someone into every room and around every wall. With Vivid Brush the person who measures up, writes the quote and holds the brush is Robin Jenner. Nobody else turns up halfway through.

Rooms and walls on one quote

A whole-house repaint is written as one document. It names every room, every outside wall and the doors, trims and screens, with the preparation each one needs. If a surface is not listed, it is not assumed.

Licensed for jobs over $3,300

In Queensland, building work valued over $3,300 needs a QBCC licence. His licence, 1103197, was first issued in 2006 and shows as active with no disciplinary records on the QBCC register, which anyone can search.

Leases that end on a date

Close to a third of Nanango homes are rented, so a rental repaint often has to fit the gap between one lease and the next. Robin agrees the start date with the owner or agent before he books it in.

Pre-sale painting kept to scope

Before a sale, Robin prices only what you want done for the listing. If something else turns up once he starts, he talks it through with you before doing it.

Flats under body corporate rules

Flats and apartments were 6.9% of Nanango dwellings in 2021. For a unit, check the body corporate rules on access and common areas first, and Robin works to them.

What house painters in Nanango can cover in one job

Most house painting in Nanango is a mix of rooms and outside surfaces. Pick what applies and Robin writes it into one quote. Interior and exterior painting can be done together or split into stages.

Whole-house repaint

The full house in one job: ceilings, walls, doors and trims inside, then cladding, fascias and window frames outside. Doing both together means one walk-through, one start date and colours that are chosen to sit together. Robin agrees the order with you, so the rooms you use most are not out of action longer than needed.

Best for: Owners refreshing an older home inside and out

Rental repaint between tenants

Scuffed walls, marked doors and tired ceilings painted in the gap between leases. The quote lists each room so the owner or agent can see what is included. Walls are washed, holes and dents are filled and sanded, and a light neutral colour is common for the next tenant.

Best for: Landlords and property managers

Pre-sale painting

Painting aimed at the listing photos and the first inspection. That is often the front of the house, the entry, the main living area and any marked trims. Robin quotes only what you ask for, so you can weigh the cost against what you expect from the sale.

Best for: Owners about to list

Units and townhouses

Inside repaints for flats and townhouses, worked around body corporate rules on access hours and common areas. Robin shifts or covers furniture and takes switch plates off where he can, so the unit is liveable again quickly. Check whether outside walls belong to the body corporate before you ask for them.

Best for: Unit owners and investors

Older Queenslander-style homes

Timber homes with high ceilings, verandahs, battens and lots of trim. These take more preparation than a newer brick house, so the quote spells out the scraping, filling and priming for each part. Any rotten timber found is flagged on the quote for a carpenter to replace before painting.

Best for: Owners of older timber houses

House painting in Nanango across old and new housing

A large, older town south-east of Kingaroy

Nanango is the biggest of the towns near Kingaroy on Robin’s list, with 3,679 people at the 2021 Census and a median age of 53. It claims to be Queensland’s fourth-oldest town, and its streets hold houses from many periods, from restored Queenslanders like Ringsfield House to newer brick homes and small blocks of flats.

Homes, rentals and units side by side

That mix shapes the work. An owner-occupier may want the whole place done in one go, while a rental needs a quick, tidy refresh between leases and a unit needs the body corporate on side. Older timber homes carry many layers of paint and lots of trim, and the average Nanango home has 2.9 bedrooms, so even a modest house adds up to a lot of surfaces.

Why the quote matters more on a whole house

On a full repaint, small gaps in a quote turn into arguments later. A clear list of rooms and outside surfaces lets you compare prices fairly, decide what can wait, and know exactly what the walk-through at the end will check.

How Robin handles a Nanango job

Robin inspects the house, notes condition, ceiling heights, storeys and access, and writes the quote. Start dates are agreed with you. Outside work moves with the forecast, so a start date can shift if rain is due. Inside rooms are painted ceilings first, then walls, doors and trims, as a South Burnett painter would expect. For house painters in Nanango with one point of contact, that is the whole process.

Whole-house problems that bring calls to house painters in Nanango

These are the situations that usually lead to a call about house painting in Nanango.

  • Rentals

Marks and scuffs between one tenancy and the next

    Cause
Tenants hang pictures, move furniture against walls and touch door frames every day.
    Why it matters
Marked walls and chipped trims make a property harder to lease and photograph.
    Our solution
Robin quotes a rental repaint room by room, fills and sands holes and dents, washes walls and paints ceilings, walls, doors and trims in that order.

Prevention / next step: A light, washable finish and a repaint at a planned lease change keeps the job smaller next time.

Signs to watch for: Nail holes and patches, Grubby door frames, Scuffed hallway walls

    How interior repaints work

  • Whole house

Inside and outside have worn at different rates

    Cause
Outside paint takes sun and rain while inside paint takes knocks, so one often fails years before the other.
    Why it matters
Painting only one half can leave the house looking mismatched, and you pay for two separate set-ups.
    Our solution
Robin prices both halves on one quote with each surface listed, so you can choose to do everything now or stage it.

Prevention / next step: Keep an eye on the sunny walls and the busiest rooms, since they usually go first.

Signs to watch for: Faded north and west walls, Marked living areas, Old colours that no longer match

    Whole-house renovation painting

  • Older homes

Paint layers on an older home of unknown age

    Cause
Older Nanango homes may have had many repaints, and the oldest layers can hold lead.
    Why it matters
Lead Alert, the Australian Government’s painting guide, puts homes built before 1970 at the greatest risk and names dry sanding, dry scraping, burning and blasting as the most serious dangers.
    Our solution
Before any preparation, Robin asks when the house was built. The guide’s advice is to test every layer, or the oldest if not all, and not to lean on colour-change kits, which can give false results.

Prevention / next step: Tell Robin the build date when you enquire.

Signs to watch for: Many thick layers, Chalky or cracked old paint

    About Robin’s lead paint training

  • Units

A unit repaint held up by building rules

    Cause
Body corporate bylaws can limit work hours, access to common areas and who may paint outside walls.
    Why it matters
Starting without approval can stop a job partway and leave rooms half done.
    Our solution
Robin quotes the inside of your unit and works to the rules you give him, with the start date agreed once the body corporate is happy.

Prevention / next step: Ask the manager for the rules before requesting a quote.

Signs to watch for: Shared stairwells, Outside walls owned in common

House painting in Nanango, one of Queensland’s older towns

Nanango’s first commercial premises was Goode’s Inn, opened by Jacob Goode in July 1848, and the town claims to be Queensland’s fourth-oldest. The post office took the name Nanango on 1 July 1859 and the town was surveyed in 1861. The name comes from the Wakka Wakka word nunangi, though its meaning is disputed. Dairying grew from the 1900s, and the railway from Kingaroy arrived in 1911. Robin Jenner started Vivid Brush in Kingaroy in October 2026 to focus on residential repaints after more than 25 years in the painting trade, mostly in Brisbane.

House painting in Nanango: questions owners ask

Question not covered here? Ask Robin directly on 0439 819 979.

Is a combined inside-and-outside repaint possible for my Nanango house?

Yes, if he can fit the job in. A whole-house repaint is written as one quote, with the rooms and outside surfaces each listed, so interior and exterior painting can run as one job or in stages. Outside work depends on the weather, so Robin often agrees an order where inside rooms fill any days when rain is forecast. The start date is agreed with you before anything is booked.

Do house painters in Nanango need a licence?

In Queensland a QBCC licence is needed for building work valued over $3,300, and most whole-house repaints pass that. Robin’s licence number is listed above, so you can check it on the QBCC register yourself. It shows the licence class and whether there are any disciplinary records. Ask any painter you are comparing for their number before you sign.

I manage a Nanango rental. Can Robin work between tenants?

He can quote it. Tell him when the lease ends, which rooms need painting and whether the property will be empty. The quote lists each room so the owner can approve the scope. Robin agrees a start date with you, but he cannot promise availability before he has seen the job and checked his Kingaroy bookings.

What does pre-sale painting usually include?

Whatever helps the listing most and fits your budget. Owners often choose the front of the house, the entry, the main living area and any badly marked trims. Robin prices each item separately on the quote, so you can drop anything that will not pay its way. Talk to your agent about what buyers in Nanango notice first.

Will a whole-house quote for my Nanango home show a price per room?

The quote lists each room and outside surface and the preparation it needs. Price depends on the number of rooms, their condition, ceiling heights, storeys and access, so there are no fixed rates. Ask Robin to break the total down if you want to stage the work or compare it with another quote.
